My pup won't eat by herself

She is still having difficulty!!!!

I have tried the Kong idea (it worked most of the time) I can sometimes get her to eat in her crate which is in the kitchen but not most of the time. She does HATE the kitchen floor (linoleum flooring). I try to have it real quiet for her when she is eating (she is very nervous) I really don't want to feed her elsewhere.

I actually just found (after over a year of pulling my hair out trying to get one of mine to eat) a product called Pet-Tinic. I syringe it over her food and see has for a over a month now been eating all her food. THis dog had not in the year I had her eaten a full bowl of food and would go sometimes days with out eating anything. She was not a nervous eater, just more of an ADHD eater. If something she found more interesting went by she would not eat, I tried feeding her with my other dogs in the kitchen, by herself in the dining room, in her crate, in an expen...etc...Finally she got the hang of what she is suppposed to do once she got the supplement on her food and being fed in a small xpen. There are still few and far between days where she will get sidetracked but as long as I leave her in there she will eat it all!! I was actually joking today that if she keeps this up she will need to be put on a diet! thats one name I never thought I would have to say it to!

She actually went this week to get the rest of her shots and the vet was amazed. He is a breeder and some of his dogs are picky too, he wanted to know what it was so he could try it on his boxers!

Are you just feeding dry? I dont think its that unusual for the pup to get bored with it. At various stages of puppyhood my dogs (esp Tully) were fussy eaters - at one stage I was mixing cheese in everything. Perhaps try a few of the tactics you would use for human children that are fussy eaters.

You could try sprinkling grated parmasen cheese (or other cheese) or a little garlic or liver sprinkles over it to improve the smell, if not the taste. Even occassional beef stock or tomato paste - something to give it a different texture. Tully plays with her kibble but if its moist food she is the first to finish.

Is she actually underweight?
