As soon as I bring the camera out, the boys start to push their snouts up the to camera.

What you want to do it desentize them to the camera. Same technique as grooming, torture tools.

Bring the camera out and lay it next to them. when they lose attention, treat. Then bring the camera to the eye. Get them in a sit/stay. Treat....


It goes on and on, but I hope you get the drift.

Sorry if I'm not more coherent. I think I'm coming down with something, so I think I'll just sign off the forum for now.
 
Oh my, that is too cute. I'm sorry, it is! But you've gotten great advice. Oh, one more.

I just thought of this. Are they clicker trained? Wonder if you can teach them to associate the shutter noise, with food, like a clicker. So, shoot, treat. Shoot, treat. Etc.

I initially was going to ask if you can turn off the sound, but figured, it's better to get them used to it.

Hmmm....just some thoughts.

No they are not clicker trained. They are good boy trained:wink2:
I am just clicking camera and treating. I have to order a protective lens as I am worried that he will scratch or bite lens.
At least it is only one dog. But both dogs get treated so Maverick is having a grand old time while Ryder can hopefuly learn from Mavericks calm behaviour. Normaly what one reacts to so does the other. Glad not in this case.
 
LOL...I have the exact same camera and my sheltie hates it! I turned off the beeping as well, but she starts to go crazy as soon as I take it out of my bag and turn it on. She gets all nervous and starts walking circles around the room. She only does it in the house, if I take her out with me when I go to shoot she's perfectly fine. Glad to know mine's not the only one.
 
Also they might be hearing the autofocus motors. Try turning AF off and see if it helps. If it does get some pictures without it and let them get used to the camera before turning the motors back on.

On the side of the lens there is a slider for MF/AF change it to MF and remember you will have to focus it by rotating the barrel. Not zoom but the other and sorry I am not near mine so I cannot remember the relationship. Depending on the lens there might also be a Image Stabilization slider that you can also turn off. Once she is used to it you want both back on if you are lazy like me :o
