My Simba...Cushing's :(

Trini...that's good that you were able to catch the Cushings early and I'm glad he isn't feeling sick. Your experience has helped a lot. Sending good wishes to you and Simba.

Trini, I will keep you and your little Simba in my thoughts and prayers. I hope for Simba that the vet is able to get the meds right the first time and you can start helping Simba immediately. Please keep us posted. :fl:hugs

Thank-you everyone for the good wishes for my Simba. :smile2:

And, TofuPup, you are so right...these little souls don't know anything serious is wrong and worry about the future as we humans do. Simba is behaving totally normally and if he hadn't been losing way too much coat I honestly wouldn't have seen any red flags and insisted on testing.

Trini

Trini I'm sure that Simba is in the best hands that a dog can be.

And I'm sure he'll have a very long and happy life with you :smile2:

I'm so sorry to hear Simba's diagnosis. At least you know what is wrong and it can be treated properly. Simba's in the best possible position because you've had experience with this disease and it was caught early.

Prayers for you and Simba,

Again, thanks for all the supportive words. Yes, it does help to have been through this before and know what to expect...and having a truly wonderful vet is a major plus as we work to get Simba stabilized and give him hopefully many happy years ahead.

Trini

I'm so sorry, Trini. You and your furkids have had more than their fair share of issues to deal with lately. Bless you for taking such good care of all of them. I'll say some prayers that the medication helps Simba feel better.

My horse had Cushings also, and we treated that successfully with meds for years until she was 23. I hope the same happens with Simba. :fl

So sorry Trini. I know several horses being treated long term for Cushings and they lead very normal, long lives. Hope the meds work for Simba too!

Thank-you all...Simba is doing well. :smile2: The ACTH test was repeated after 1 week of front loading on Lysodren and levels were where they should be. Currently he only takes Lysodren once a week which is really good...retesting will be done in 6 months unless symptoms indicate the need for med adjustment sooner.

Trini

Ah, Trini, what a bad break! Hug that precious little one for me. With your good care, he'll have many more good years!
