My Singing Sheltie

Very funny, everyone!

I'm not sure if my boys could "sing" - I would be afraid to try....!

(And no, I did not let my listen to it....I sent them both outside before I opened up the video. Don't want to give them any ideas!) :wink2:

Chris is Back !! Barb you're so funny as well.

I love this forum you make my day !!

Mine aren't howlers--unless you count Annie warbling her Indian Love Call to the world before she was spayed! :rolleyes2:

Yep, I've got a howler. Spencer especially enjoys howling when I am in the shower; maybe he thinks I need encouragement to finish up and rejoin him to play fetch. What I really believe is that he enjoys the sound of his own voice. And we have coyotes around here and we can hear them at night doing their own howling. He has never once howled back at them!!

My previous Sheltie would howl with you. The neighbors probably thought we were beating her. She could really carry on. She would howl as long as you accompanied her.

The current pup is a TV hound. Gets really excited when dogs come on screen. So of course when I did the you tube video here she came, jumping and carrying on at the computer. She will also get up and put her feet and nose on the mouse. She seems to know that is what controls the screen. However, I can't get her to howl. I miss the howl sing alongs.

You're right, Clancy has a beautiful voice. Buddy hasn't learned how to howl yet, and I've worked so hard on "Quiet" that I'm afraid to teach him. Some of the other dogs howling on YouTube didn't sound anywhere near as good as Clancy.

Hysterical! Loved the video! I thought I posted yesterday on this, must of disappeared???

Had to tell you the video is great!

My second sheltie, Fonzie (this was the 70's) was a singer. It started when he sang to the song "Old Man River" from the musical "Showboat" and moved on to singing with Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson on any song from "Kiss Me Kate" it finally progressed to where he would sing with me if I sang any of "his" songs. But he hated Elvis, go figure! LOL:winkgrin:

Deska howls and sings. He does that head in the air wolf baying noise when he wants me - when I get home from work, am outside the property but esp if I am in the back rooms hiding dog traets. I was told it is the 'calling the pack' sound.

But Deska also loooves singing. He especially loves swing and 1920s-30s music and is particular to show tunes. Not sure why those in particular tunes but he will often sing and dance around too, its so funny.

My little girl Zoe used to howl just like that! She only did it when you put her in the crate and she knew we were still here. She wanted out! Very cute, made me miss my Zoe.

Loved the video!

In his prime my Indy was an impressive singer, he would yodel in the inhale and on the exhale so that he kept a continuous sound going; with quite a range in tones. However as he has aged he has mostly stopped singing. None of the other dogs sing. When we had just Indy and Emma she tried to sing with him a few times but her voice is a very hoarse croak and when she'd join the howl Indy would stop immediately. So they worked out a system where Indy would sing and Emma would stand on her back legs and tap-dance against the patio door. Quite a production...I miss the singing. Emma, of course, still tap-dances on the door when she wants in.:biggrin2:
