My stupid theory about Animal Planet

Animal Planet theory

Well Lexi goes absolutely nuts over Animal Planet.. I'm not quite sure how this happened.. but she can recognize birds, alligators, elephants, dogs, cat, etc on the tv and goes crazy!! I think its a movement thing but when there are people on tv she's perfectly fine.. When animals are on she runs around to the other side of the tv to find out where they went or jumps at the tv.. its hilarious:lol: to watch! I'm interested to know how she knows all those animals, but like i said i'm leaning towards it's a movement thing.. i'll try to post a video of this silly behavior because it's a site to see..

Last night, Brad and I were watching a movie, and on the film, a doorbell rang. All my dogs went nuts barking and racing for the front door. Now tell me: Should I characterize that as really smart behavior or really stupid? :confused2:

My forever pup, Timber, used to do the exact same thing....and then he would look at us totally confused, wondering why we didn't get up to answer the door!

I characterized it as really stupid. Timber was really cute, but awfully dumb! This dog could not pass by his reflection anywhere without lunging and hipping at "that damn dog" that keeps showing up and following him everywhere!

A doorbell ringing on TV or a knock on a door on TV sends Spencer into a barking frenzy. And there I am telling him, "it's not real; it's on the television. Stop barking!" Frankly I think it's an excuse for him to start barking since he enjoys that activity so much. So I am leaning toward the smart behavior theory.

Radio and TV

They told me to leave the radio on for Josh and Jess when I went to work but they realised pretty soon that although there was human voices in the kitchen there was no actual person present to play with and cuddle them :biggrin2: so they just learned to ignore it.

Same with the telly. The two have their baskets in the living room but they mainly focus on us, not the telly . They only look up when there's a strange noise startling them.

TV doorbells

Last night, Brad and I were watching a movie, and on the film, a doorbell rang. All my dogs went nuts barking and racing for the front door. Now tell me: Should I characterize that as really smart behavior or really stupid? :confused2:

Chris, I know what you mean. My Chesli (7 yo) will bark when she hears a bell on TV. It's so funny. For as smart as they are, they can do some pretty silly things.
