Mystery Illness

holidays

wow that is mysterious....is there anything new in the environment? Possibly stuff brought in for the holiday season? New furniture, rugs, etc with a spray or coating on it that could have been licked? Do you have a fresh tree that could have been sprayed with enzymes or preservative? Carpets cleaned with a cleaner, or ice melt stuff that got in paws? Just a thot, so much changes in our household routines for the holidays. I was reading an article in one of my health newsletters that said 98% of diseases start with entry through the mouth. I would think that would be true for critters as well...

Hope your pack improves and you can pinpoint what caused the upset. But mostly I hope you've gotten through the worst of it, can't even imagine what an ordeal this has been for you. I agree with the post that said, shelties know when you are trying to aid in their healing, you can see that confirmation in their eyes that they know you are only trying to help even when it means doing stuff they hate.

Oh Ann, I'm so sorry the treatment isn't working. I can't imagine having multiple sick pups. Sure hope things get better soon.:hugs

This has been awhile ago we heard on the news some sort of virus was
going around and it was contagious to other dogs.

Oh Ann Good Thoughts they improve everyday. :hugs

Ann, whats the update? Everything back to normal yet?

Well, I hoped it was, but Barkley, who I thought would miss the ploppy part since he spent two days throwing up, has that now.:ick Ruffles isn't quite 100 percent yet either, but she's getting there. We are now more than two weeks with this...I've never had anything like it in the house before. Fortunately, Sprite and Pixie are fine again, and Checkers, aka Queen Iron Stomach, never got it. Phew!

My vet has tested for everything imaginable...all bloodwork and fecals are normal, and none of them have had fevers with it. The conclusion is that it's something viral, probably from the wildlife in our area that carry all sorts of nastiness. There's no other explanation.

I'm hoping I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for checking on us!

Ann, we are all hoping for that light at the end of the tunnel for you and your little ones. It has been an exhausting time for you. Definitely more wine and cookies are in order!!! :hugs
