One suggestion... Rory (as in roar!)

I looked up the meaning and found this... Rory is a masculine given name of an Irish and Scottish origin. It is an Anglicised form of the Irish Gaelic name Ruaidhrí/Ruairí ("red king"), the name of medieval Irish kings Ruaidrí na Saide Buide and Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair, and the Scottish Gaelic Ruairidh/Ruaraidh

I had a wonderful red sable sheltie lad named Rory...he was both an imp and a total sweetheart...so I definitely second Page's suggestion! :)

I know how hard it can be to pick out a name, i'd been trying to pick a name for a female since the litter was born in April. I looked and looked and looked some more lol. I finally picked out a name when the pups were about 6 weeks old, Una was the name I picked and I couldn't wait for her to come home with that name but at 8 weeks the breeder hadn't decided which female she was going to pick so at 9 weeks I picked A male and named him Piper and it took me all of 5 minutes to decide and it fits him to a T. I really did love the name Una though so maybe the next one. Good luck with the name picking.

I've just been re-reading The Jungle Book. There's no lions, but there is jungle. Baloo would be a cute name, or even Mowgli. There's also Bagheera the black panther, but I always felt that dog names should only be one or two syllables. And I know what you mean about picking a name beforehand - sometimes it just won't stick! Then you have to "go back to the drawing board" until you come up with a name that feels right.
