Nasty Habit

less interest now

Doesn't seem to be the issue it once was for my pups, but they are getting zucchini and pineapple in their diet (per the dog listener) someone posted that organ meats worked on theirs-haven't tried that, you can scour previous posts. I think anything that becomes a habit is harder to break.

None of my dogs have had this habit, thankfully. You can borrow Jasmine though. Maybe she'll teach your pup that it's much more fun to herd than to eat?

Hi Pipergirl,

Unfortunately that is not an uncommon behavior...and especially in pups who tend to use their mouths to get to experience new and different things. To a dog this behavior is not gross...but it is to us. :ick

Several forum members have mentioned that feeding pineapple to your pup will make his/her poop taste bad to them...it is worth a try even though it doesn't work with every dog. Just add a little canned crushed pineapple to Lilly's regular food and see if this helps.

There are also commercially sold products sold in pet stores that tend to render the poop unattractive to dogs, but if pineapple works I would use it rather than the commercial products.

Not sure if this is working but the guys love getting a chunk of pineapple in the food bowl and eat it first.
