Natural flea and tick options

I hear people are using it on themselves for mosquito repellent. Boy do I need THAT. We are in the peak of mosquito season. I found several online recipes using the same ingredients. It would be about the same or more expensive to buy all the oils and DIY. As I found with "On Guard" by DoTerra for humans, sometimes the right mix in the right proportions is just magic. Can't wait til it comes. I have the peppermint/cloves in a grooming spray and adding this, along with Flea Free (ACV/garlic) internally should have us covered.
My UPS driver uses the On Guard for her horses for flies. She swears that product is useful for all kinds of things

Really? I love On Guard! That stuff is pure magic. Mom, Dave, and I have averted so many colds and flus with this.

Just got my Apothecary Tick & Mosquito Repellent. Squirted on myself. I really like the smell. Tonight I have to get ready for an outdoors train event we are holding Saturday hanging solar lights and such. We will see how it works on me! Saturday night too . . . sure better smelling than the OFF I used visiting mountains on Monday. Will be grooming dogs in a bit and will squirt on them.

Does it cover fleas or just ticks and mosquitoes?

I am thinking just ticks and mosquitoes as they have a different one for fleas! Let me know how it works for you! I haven't had a chance to test it against mosquitoes yet

Now here is something to make you go hmmmm. I had a really bad migraine this morning. I squirted the stuff on myself and the dogs. The migraine was gone almost instantly.

I've tried a few products from the apothecary at Pandosy Village Vet (my pup's chiropractor works there) and have been very pleased with them. The Healing Balm and Skin Relief Tincture have been incredibly helpful. I experimented with applying the healing balm to one of two cat scratches on myself. It took 16 days for the treated one to heal and over 3 months for the other one. Pretty impressive. I'd love to try the tick repellent as I hear alot of good things about it but, unfortunately, I'm allergic to one of the active ingredient.

You mentioned in the original post a flea prevention and heart worm treatment. Interceptor (if you can get it) is perfectly fine for heart worm treatment, and that is not something I would ever feel comfortable going "holistic" with. Fleas are annoying, heart worm will kill them.

Anyway, I don't use anything for fleas. My dogs travel more than the average dog, and I haven't had a flea in years and years. So my answer is "nothing". Clean Run sells a short term tick repellent that I may use when I'm in Massachusetts next month, but that's about it.

Wow, definitely makes me go hmmm, I have chronic migraines.

I just had a "flea tick HW moment" this week. Melli did something and abscessed her paw. My vet is working on it. I arrive for visit one and they say "Is she on Flea/Tick?" I say "No". They looked at me funny. The next visit I got asked "Is she on Flea/Tick/HW?" Now I know why they looked at me funny. I must have not heard HW the first time. I'm like "Well HW OF COURSE . . . flea/tick natural". Guh. I really hate being quizzed by staff "Flea/tick? HW? Shots overdue? Need food? Need dental treats? Need a new collar or leash? Etc." A simple "Do you need any products today?" would be plenty. . . . but I digress. Absolutely the HW needs to be attended to and there is no natural solution to kill it in the blood as needed. We are STILL not doing much waiting for Melli's paw to heal and enduring intense heat. We are still on Flea Free in our drinking water and spritz of the oils mixtures during grooming. So far so good. I'd knock on wood but the dogs would all start barking if I did.
