Need help with behavior problem

I'm glad it seems to be working.

I have a similar, though not as drastic issue, with my two boys. The root cause may be related.

My boys know my morning routing very well. Indy knows that after I finish brushing my teeth, I will then start the blow dryer. He hates it! As soon as I turn the water off, he starts to growl and bark. That is Bacca's cue to grab him by the ear and haul him away. Once I actually start the blow dryer, Indy then goes into full frenzied barking, and Bacca works even harder to pull him away from the bathroom.

It's almost as if he thinks he's is protecting me from Indy or is trying to distract Indy when he gets barking (not that Indy has ever threatened me). It's weird, but it works. Invariably, Indy gets diverted and starts to rough-house with Bacca instead. And the barking stops.

It sounds a little extreme, but I wonder if your other pups are trying to teach Rocky to settle down. Maybe, I'm giving them too much credit, but they are smart dogs, after all!
