Need some help

Way to go on making some progress! I'm currently reading control unleashed and think it would be very beneficial for you.

I'm using the techniques in the context of agility class with my nervous noise/movement sensitive Sheltie (she is also very scared and reactive towards strangers) and the progress is amazing. I've done only 2 classes since having started reading the book and practicing the exercises at home and Kyara can be lying down on a mat while waiting her turn without jumping up at every noise. There is still lots of work to do but in a time frame of 2 weeks that is pretty good.

It could be something worth looking into!

Meldor, I would only caution you that those trainings should be done outside of training agility if you planning to train agility. If you bring scared fearful dog and start practicing agility with him/ her you WILL transfer that fear to the equipment and doing agility itself. It will be very hard for you to untrain later and get desire, joy and speed running in agility. I would suggest just sitting outside the rings, watching, rewarding for good responses, not shutting down, playing some games, working on tricks, doing something like "walking the line" attention exercise.
When dog does that jump or tire or teeter they better be happy with joy and desire. You really can not build both at same time.

She's not nervous about doing agility but about the building and waiting her turn. She's fine on the obstacles and is focused and happy when it is her turn. Thanks for the advice but I am certain my dog is fine and the control unleashed exercises are practiced in order to be used in other group classes later on, such as calming exercises when you wait your turn.

I didn't mean to deviate the thread towards my dog's issues. I apologies bibluegirl. Best of luck with your continued progress and as 2GoodDogs mentioned, keep on practicing while getting closer and close (as long as she is still not reacting or gets nervous) and I'm sure you will see tremendous progress.

I looked into the book you mentioned and it looks to be exactly what I need. I will be picking up a copy as soon as I can get to the book store. He's getting better we just keep practicing.
