Neem Oil Shampoo

I was just browsing Amazon for a new shampoo for Honey; with shedding season in full swing her skin is super sensitive, and I ran across one with neem oil as the second ingredient.

Is this common, has anyone tried it? I use neem oil in my garden and it reeks to high heaven! I can't imagine any other ingredients could manage to cover that smell up, I have to wash my hands five or six times after spraying it just to fade the smell enough to stand it.

Recently the boys picked up some fleas on our walk--highly unusual in Arizona but we had a lot of rain this spring. My dog walking buddy swears by Neem oil-sprays her Airedale and herself to deter bugs when they camp and travel (which is a lot). So I sprayed Fillion and oh my Lord that was nasty smell!
If you haven't tried coconut oil yet I highly recommend it--it smells great and worked wonders on Koko's totally destroyed coat!

I give it to her occasionally with her food, but if I do it too often it upsets her stomach. Her coat in general looks good, and her skin, there's no rashes or dry flakiness...her skin has just always been sensitive and with it coming out and the extra heat from the humidity we get this time of year...she's extra squirmy whenever I try to brush her!

Oh, no problem, I know that skin issues are the usual culprit with this, and certainly her sensitivity has lead to skin issues on the past! We spent the better part of a summer and fall fighting a staph infection one year.

I always like to hear recommendations, you never know what might help. One year I was rubbing banana peels on her because I heard that could help the itchiness :lol:

Well, with that glowing of a review now I want to try it! Does it smell decent? I see the first neem product is a water based extraction, with the oil further down on the list of ingredients, maybe that helps?

We had an aloe oil for Honey's hair at one point...it reeked, but it made brushing her so easy! I'd put it on while she was still dripping so it'd distribute nicely and most of the oilyness would rub off when I toweled her.

I ended up getting Avenalyt Pet Shampoo this time, I've used their medicated brand before and really liked it. It's a soapless shampoo so I'm hoping that'll help prevent drying out, and it lathered great. Two squirts one for her stomach and one for her back and she was fully soaped.
