neighbor rant

I'm not keen on debarking and certainly not because of this woman.

I know you, and many others on this forum, are not keen on debarking (or more technically bark softening) but sometimes, after all other options have been pursued it is the only option remaining beyond surrendering your dogs.

Both my dogs are bark softened and they both still have a pretty loud bark on them. Heck, you can't tell Edan's bark was softened unless he's around other Shelties. There are MANY nights Edan has woken us up barking at something; he also makes a great doorbell. I'm not too concerned that his bark (or CJ's for that matter) wouldn't warn us of something amiss.

I agree, all other methods, such as training, putting them in the room furthest from the lady's home, the journaling and talking to animal control about HER rights, etc. should be tried before surgery. But, if it comes down to debark or surrender - personally, I'd opt for debark any day.

Agreed- but as owners we should try everything else first, I too would complain if a dog(s) was barking continuosly throughout the day and early eve. I am not assuming Cailynne's dogs are, I am not sure, but it is not always the complainers fault.
