Never a Dull Moment...

...with Misty! Just when I thought she'd outgrown her taste for fabric, the night before last she decided to snack on a small squeaky toy I use for the show ring. It's a small squeaker in a little fabric "envelope" that fits in your pocket to get the dog's attention. For some reason, in spite of the fact that she has at least 1000 toys, she LOVES these and if left with one will fling it around the room and have a good old time with it. Still, because they're so small, I don't give them to her to play with.

So the night before last, I had tossed one on the coffee table after the weekend's shows. Big mistake. When I looked at her, she was happily chewing on a naked squeaker. Hmmm, I wondered. Where did she put the cover? An exhaustive search told me it was nowhere to be found. Clearly, she ate it. :eek2:

I knew it was borderline too big for her to pass and of course it was Sunday so the vet was closed, so after some internal debate decided I'd have to resort to the 3% hydrogen peroxide to make her return it. One tablespoon did the job and there it was, with her dinner. I was never so happy to see recycled dog food! Misty couldn't understand all the fuss, but enjoyed some white bread and a few crackers to absorb the peroxide and settle her stomach and has been just fine since. You think once they're three you can relax. Nope!

Oh man, so glad she's OK. The one time I had to give Meadow peroxice (I forget what she ate) I gave her a syringe full. Nothing. Waited quite a while, still nothing. Gave her another syringe full - this is more than I'd like to give! Still nothing! Just one big burp. She never did vomit, I gave up and she was fine. Unbelievable strong stomach, apparently. :rolleyes2:

Mine are the same! I have found that if you play with them (I use a tug) and get them bouncing and sloshing those stomach contents they will vomit faster:ROFLMAO:
Finnie had eaten a bunch of apple cores and seeds (garbage mutt) and I panicked about the seeds. Turns out they’d have to eat hundreds of seeds and they’d have to be crushed or open to cause ill effects! Better to be safe that sorry though!

So glad you noticed the missing cover! Finnie swallowed a piece of sheepskin last year and if my mom hadn’t seen it I’d never have known! Gave him the peroxide and got the sheepskin back. Now there is never small sheepskin pieces around (Blueberry likes to play with them) that he can swallow! I swear he swallowed it so Blueberry couldn’t get it:ROFLMAO:
