Jasper's Mom

Forums Regular
Hi,

I am a first time mom to a sheltie. My 11 year old cocker passed away July 17th, 2008. I was looking for another companion and ran across Jasper at a Rescue organization. I fell in love with this 6 month old puppy. He was found in a foreclosed house with a rope around his neck. The person that found him kept him for a month but decided he was too much trouble and dropped him off at the rescue. He arrived at the shelter on a saturday and i adopted him on Wed. He had open sores where the harness was too tight under his legs. why can't people care for animals better.
He is a cutie that loves to nip at my heels. I guess he is herding me down the hall way. lol.
I will need a lot of information and looks like the sheltie forums has a lot of information for me and Jasper. We started training class today. :smile2:

Welcome! I know you will find lots of good info here. I can't believe that somone could even think about abandoning that cute little puppy, or cause harm to him in any way. You will have so much fun with him and he is one lucky Sheltie!:smile2:

your really in for a treat.. Shelties are absolutely amazing dogs. Not trying to knock other dogs but shelties are so intuned with your feelings its just an amazing experience. Good luck with the herder hahaha... And this forum is really great I must say. Alot of information and great people. I am learning so much.

Hi and Welcome to the group. I'm new myself and this forum has already been very helpful to me as I'm sure it will be to you. I'm so happy you and Jasper found each other. Love to see some pic's of him when you get a chance.

Welcome to the group! Where are you located in Michigan? There aren't a lot of Shelties in southeastern Michigan I am finding. All three of my girls were adopted from other families but they all come from the west side of the state, Muskegon, Scottsville and Grand Rapids. Hope you enjoy the group!

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum! Jasper is a very lucky boy. Stories like that just break my heart. I can't understand how anyone could abandon a pet, and in circumstances like that. He is very lucky to have found you, and you'll enjoy being owned by a Sheltie! And you're right, he is herding you--you're his "herd" now! Enjoy!

Welcome to you and Jasper!!

I hope you enjoy the forums . you are being inducted into the realm of being owned by a Sheltie!! Right Ann. I hope they find those people and prosecute for cruelty to animals. That's terrible. There is NO EXCUSE for that!! Jasper will have tons of love to share with you for rescueing him. :cool:I think they know when they have been neglected and freed from the harm they faced. God Bless you! You are an Angel!!:wink2:
