I do not have anything better on my drive, but watch my head. This is the only difference why Leo cuts behind me or follows my lead. If you watch path on the ground where you expect your dog to be, Koji will not cut behind you

Tell Koji that. This has more to do with me not properly training or maybe reinforcing his "recall to heel". So instead of coming to where my hand is outstretched, he'll go behind me to take an obstacle. I can be standing there, arm outstretched, either eye contact with him, or watching his path of where I want him to go. He'll still go behind me if there's an obstacle on the other side. Not always, but sometimes.

The point still remains though. When something is broken, why train something that requires that broken piece? You shouldn't. You should fix the broken thing first.

Besides. Dare I say it. I believe Koji is retired.

I also disliked the bit about walking off. I'm sorry, but no matter how much proof work you do, being in the ring is different. We all know it. Sometimes, some dogs NEED to be walked off to be reminded what they did wrong, because we can't train in the rings. Heck, we sometimes can't even correct our dogs in the ring (in a firm voice). I picked up my dog too roughly according to one judge and was warned. Wow. Really? Point is. Some dogs needed it. Koji did. And wow did it work!

I read your posts and say, "wow! sounds like Trax." Then I remember Trax and Koji are related You know I've had to walk Trax of so many times. Actually I walked him off last week! The day after he QQ'd

But I wanted to tell you! If you haven't been to a UKI show yet, GO! You can run "Not for competition" in a competition setting and then spend the whole standard course time training your dog if you want to. You can put his butt back on a contact or put him back at his start line if he breaks early. Anything you want! It can really help fix problems in a competition setting.
