New here to forum

Glad to have you all on board. Does Katie get any effects from the Chemo pills? :(This is the first I have heard of a dog actually recieving Chemo Therapy. I knew it existed but does she get ill as some people taking Chemo do?:eek2: I'm sure it broke your heart, that's devistating news. Prayers go out to help Katie .

There are several different forms of Chemo that you can use. One is injected and had lots of risk besides being expensive. This one my own vet used on one of her dogs with cancer. Katie did have an infection or a reaction to her first chemo about 2 weeks out but now we give her 2 pills instead of 3 and she seem's okay with it. She does get tired about her 2nd week and I think it is due to the pills. She is also getting prednisone 10mg, it works with the chemo.
She actually is doing good, does not play but is very active other wise and alert. I am also giving her herbal powders and more home cooked food. With Cancer it has to be high protien, low carb and no sugar.

Welcome, Susan, to you and your furkids. You'll find lots of support here on this forum. I'm very sorry to hear about your Katie. We lost our first Sheltie to cancer. Since then I've become involved with the National Canine Cancer Foundation. If you haven't heard of it, here is their website. http://www.wearethecure.org/
There are wonderful links and lots of information as well as support for owners of dogs with cancer. In the past few years since it formed, they've done an enormous amount of research into cancer in dogs. It may be a help to you. Please keep us posted on how Katie does...and you too.

Anne I have heard of it and they have a very good website. I don't think that a lot of people even know of that website. Thanks for the warm welcome.
