I am so impressed and thankful for all the great information I have received from the members on this forum - so I decided time to join. Finnegan is 11 months old and our first Sheltie. In the past we have had Golden Retrievers, a shepherd/collie mix and rescued an English Setter mix, who is now 9ish. All 4 of us are pilots and own our own plane and plan to bring Finnegan when we fly. He travels so well in the car and feel he will adapt perfectly to the air! Love the breed, but still working through some of the quirks (ie. barking, recall) I am thankful that so many owners have posts here to help!

Welcome to the Sheltie Nation Forum!

I am so glad that you are getting lots of useful information from our site.

Welcome to the best forum on the Internet. My husband and I have three beautiful Shelties (two are rescues) and are currently learning agility with Bentley and Zoey.

Recalls take a lot of practice...don't give up! Ours can still turn a deaf ear when there is a squirrel out back (in our fenced yard). Barking is another thing altogether, especially when you have more than one who likes to be vocal. But hey, I wouldn't give them up for the world.

Thanks for the encouragement!

It is good to know that all training that has not been secured as a puppy can still be achieved! A good friend commented when we told him we got a sheltie pup, "That dog is smarter than you!". No kidding! I find that they are also good at outsmarting us! Thanks for your work on the rescues - I know that can be hard!

Hi welcome to the forum, all pilots have you heard of the group Piolts and Paws. Volunteers help transport rescues. great organization.

Nice to meet you!

That's awesome about you guys being a pilot family. It will be fun to hear about your air travels too with your buddy. I'm going to get a sheltie puppy in May and was going to name him Pilot

Glad you finally joined! Can't wait to see pictures of your dogs.
