Diva competed again this Sat in Rally Advanced A and finshed her RA title. Unfortunately I don't have video as Rachel had a conflict but I really really wished I had this run and tape. On second thought, no I don't. I learned something, don't teach new behaviors the week of a show.
Here's what happened.
This show site was really crowded. It was hard to get warmed up and get good attention. Very hard to just walk down the aisle or get into the building for that matter. I don't like bring crowded and felt anxious. We get to the ring opening and we start everything is going great and then we get to the 9th sign, it is halt, down ,sit. Diva halts no problem. She downs quickly. I say "Sit" and Diva suddenly rolls onto her back feet waving in the air,then rolls to the right, curls her body up and then rolls back and forth back on to her back tail going like crazy, Oh no!
I say "sit" again, Diva flops onto her side legs straight out and head flat on the ground not moving, Dead. Sit one more time and finally she sits and we move on. Whew.
Well, what happened was on Tues, I started to teach Diva how to play dead and roll over using the clicker. She was doing really well with it too and almost has both behavior but they are raw shaped behavior and not under stimulus control yet. So when I told her to sit in the ring, for some reason she decided she should offer me both the play dead and roll over behaviors all at once.I was not amused and embarassed at the time. But looking back it was hilarious. Maybe Diva thought I was being too serious and wanted to lighten things up. I think this one is going to be entertaining to show as time goes on.
