New to Sheltie Forum

Welcome
I am sorry for the loss of your Chico  But I am excited for you to get a new Sheltie!
We live vicariously through others on here, LOL.. and most of us can't get another puppy/dog at this time, but I think it is SAFE to assume one can never have enough Shelties! lol So it is wonderful to hear another person going through the process of selecting another puppy, and anticipate with them the new arrival!
By default this forum became my extended Sheltie family, glad you're becoming a part of it!

Thank you!!

Thank you to all who have welcomed me to this forum! I can see already that I am in the right place!! I have as several of you have suggested gone on line and have found several breeders and there is one that I have contacted by e-mail. She is down in KY whereas I am in Indianapolis, IN. I have had several questions prepared for this breeder and from what I have read from both her site and her e-mails, I think that I have found one that will be excellent. I have just found that with the markings that I am wanting - a tri-color female with a blaze down the forehead the only name that I felt that would fit her is Dutchess. It sounds like royalty to me. Chico had his name because in spanish, chico is "little boy" and that was exactly what he was!!

Thanks again for such a warm welcome and I look forward to hearing from you all with ideas, and tips for when I get my little Dutchess!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a safe, healthy and Happy New Year!

Char

I'm so sorry to hear about Chico. It is never easy to say good-bye to a beloved pet.

How exciting that you will be getting a Sheltie! As so many have said, do your research before settling on a breeder and litter. The recommendation to check out ASSA referrals is a good one. Even if you aren't planning to show or compete in performance sports a well-bred pup and a good, supportive breeder will prove to be money well-spent in the long run.

Welcome to the forum. Don't be shy about the questions. You have some extremely knowledgable folks here that love to share info!!

I have had the pleasure of sharing my home with my baby, Deja, for 6 months now and can't imagine life without her. Now I know everyone has been nice and such but I need to warn you.. you'll want to get your camera out once your furkid gets home. The natives get restless (points at Megansmom) if they don't get their pics..

Breeder listing

The breeder that I have made contact with was found on breeders.NET. Do you have any info on the breeders that are listed there??

:smile2:

pictures.

How do I put a picture on here?? I will be happy to post one of Dutchess once I get her but, I can post one of my precious Chico until I do get her. Can someone tell me how to do that?? Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum, Char! I had a Duchess when I was a litle girl -- fine name for a wonderful friend. :smile2:

You can't actually post directly to the forum unless you're a premium member. I use photobucket to post then post a link here
