Good luck, Ashley, and most important, have fun! Bring some small squeaky toys too to make it fun for Elise...it's fine to have one in the ring for a puppy. And a brush! She looks terrific and you'll do great. Can't wait to hear about it!

Elise doesn’t mind standing on the table, but she has started to back up a bit after her bite gets examined. I’m hoping it’s because she’s teething but we will definitely work on it. She will do just about anything for what I call the magic conformation treats (cut up and microwaved hot dogs!). :)

I will definitely try your magic treats....may just help make it more enjoyable for Finnie!

They seem gross at first, but the dogs LOVE them. And it’s all the benefits of yummy hot dogs without the wet, greasiness. Basically you just cut them up, then overcook them in the microwave so that they dry out a little.

The show was so much fun! I was a little nervous beforehand but it was so much less stressful in the ring than agility! The judge tells you exactly what to do! :)

That being said, I made sure to tell everyone it was our first show and the judge was so nice. Other competitors were very friendly and complimentary as well. One person said she looked like “daddy” and he’s super successful (I think #7 now?) and I was so proud!!! Someone also told me she was nice and feminine and multiple people complimented on how well trained she was! :)

I groomed her myself and while there isn’t much hair yet I was proud of how I did. Her head looked really nice (her planes are evening out. Her ears looked absurd but what can you do? I glued them right afterwards and made sure to break them farther down. Hope it isn’t too late!

In the ring she was a rockstar. She happy wiggled on the table briefly when the judge came up but I’m ok with that. I’d rather that than the opposite problem! At the end the judge told me that she had a great outline, lovely movement and a wonderful temperament. Nice of her to say and I was glowing.

Our next show in August so we are planning to work on ears, looking ahead (instead of at me) and GROWING!

Video!

She looks terrific!! Congratulations! What a cutie. Don't worry about her ears...if you keep them in between shows they'll be fine. Love the wags on the table...there's nothing like a happy show puppy!
