Non-proportionate ears

...
But someone else can help you with that, my last attempt failed MISERABLY!:rolleyes2: There are also lots of threads about tipping puppy ears.

Edit: Here's an example of how tipping can go wrong.:wink2:

LOL that's too cute, how did ya get it to tip backwards ;) You're gonna start a a new trend

Hi, sorry that this took long. Just wanna show that her left ear is not tipped but slanted. I'm not sure how this happen but she was fine about a week ago? Could this be a birth defect or something?

Here's a pic on foxy,

That does look very similiar to what happened to Honey while she was teething. Something about the pain in the jaw makes the ear muscles do weird things. Honey spent about three weeks with strange ears and than they went right back to normal.

If you google puppy teething effects ears, or some similiar combination of words you'll get a bunch of threads about this happening, mostly to prick ear dogs.

A quick excerpt on Chihuahua teething:

Ears may be affected. Ears that used to stand erect may:
Droop down very low
One may droop and one may stand
One or both may roll back toward the backside of the head
An ear may droop or roll one day...And the next day it may be the other ear that is out of place

Not necessarily.

If you really want to have properly tipped ears you need to glue or brace. Most Shelties don't have properly tipped ears without some help. But you'll have to keep it up for about a year.

So if you don't mind a slightly quirky look, then leave them alone.

Personally, I would be inclined to tip. But I have a preference for less is more!

Whatever you decide is appropriate and no one will fault your choice. It is work to keep them tipped!

Thanks for that info Barb - we have decided to let Hanna's ears be. When the glue came out this last time they stayed tipped for a coupel of days and then popped back up. She is cute just as she is, and I have no intentions of showing her, so it seems like a lot of bother for what is a cosmetic issue.

For sure! I finally gave on Bacca's ears......I just couldn't anymore. So he has hound ears. I've finally learned to love his Eeeyore look! As you will love your own baby's look as well.

p.s. he will grow into his ears! They all look gangly at this age....all legs, tail, ears and no hair!
