Non-traditional toys

My 11 week old pup plays here and there with her 14-15 toys that she has. I was looking for something cheap and new. She has a Volleyball she loves to herd but really does not have much interest in her STORE BOUGHT toys. Any suggestions? I know they love shoes and laces but I do not want to encourage her to chew on them. What kind of things can I play with her? She is too young to hit the park yet and our yard is kind of small. We take her for walks daily but I just want to make sure she is getting enough excercise. What kind of toys are good for stimulation? She loves my garden toys, her brushes and she loves to dump her food and run away with the bowl.

To recycle squeaky toys I put them in a sock. My dogs now actually prefer the squeaky sock to the squeakies on their own.

You could also tie the toys to some string and pull it around for them to chase. I also tied some toys on hat elastic and pinned them to a door frame so it hung down and the pups could attack it in the air.

Tissues are always a fave:lol: So are dusters and anything else they can pull apart.

Toilet rolls are fun for little teeth to chew on.

Papertowel rolls

Ginger loves almost anything made of cardboard- toliet paper or papertowel rolls. Almost any kind of ball-- small (like a cat ball) or large (like your herding ball).

I also find that if I put away a toy for a a few days and then bring it back, it will renew her interest--it's like a new toy.

My Buddy loves to chew on pop bottles. I take the cap though so he dont swallow it. He goes crazy chewing and playing tug of war with them! He also likes my chihuahua's little stuffed animals.. my poor chihuahua's keep losing their small ones to him. He wont tear up his big ones just their small ones...:(

I make a ball of wool yarn, and shrink it in the washer. the dogs love to play with it and its not dangerous if they eat it :wink2: sometimes i attach some threads on the ball, so it looks like a squid.. makes it more fun to tug..

Can't remember who it was on the forum, introduced a jumbo plastic ball to their pup! It was a hit!

I've been meaning to do the same for my boys so they can play soccer together!

Silly me gave the pups a ball of wool to play with. And then they decided that all balls of wool were play things and got into my knitting bag and pulled everything apart. One of the few times I had my camera handy

I make Lexi "sock babies" all the time. I just get a ton of old socks and stuff them into a long one and then tie a knot. For whatever reason she LOVES them. But usually in a day or two they have to be thrown away because she has gone to town. However, this has probably led to her insane obsession with socks.

Sadie loves disposable water bottles and I've heard a number of people say that their dogs love playing with 2L soda pop bottles.

Ella LOVES LOVES LOVES gatoraide/20 oz plastic water bottles. She loves biting things that do not give way, or that push back against her jaws (she constantly bites my parents carpet because she can get her teeth caught in it and bite down so hard without her jaws closing).

Size 1 or Size 2 soccer balls are good because they are a bit bigger and can knock them around without totally destroying them in 2 seconds.
