Normal Puppy Behavior

As someone said earlier in the thread, every dog is different and mature at different rates. My Bacca clearly loves his human Mom, but is calmer and more reserved. Indy is an in-your-face kind of dog and just can't stop jumping and poking his nose at you for pets.

Many dogs don't like to be petted on the head. Bacca doesn't for sure, but is happy to have his bum or tummy scritched.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong, and you needn't be concerned. Just give it time, and lots of opportunity for play, and attention.

At 16 weeks, they are also starting to head into teenagehood, so streaks of independence start to surface as well. You might also find, if you plan to neuter him, that once that's done, he will turn into a big suck.

Good luck!

Indifferent Sheltie

My girl is 10 and she's always been aloof. She is so happy to see me whn I come home and if I say the word "brush" she presents herself to be pampered but she would rather stay downstairs instead of be upstairs with me. There's aloof and there's ALOOF. Am I doing something wrong here?

If you have lived such for nearly 10 years and you and your dog are comfortable with it, I do not think you need to change
