but heaven has a new angel today. Wasn't sure where to put this.

Toby, a feral cat that we have cared for off and on for 15 years was euthanized today. He hated being inside, so he simply came and went as he wanted to. We hadn't seen him in two or so months and today, by chance as we were leaving for lunch - he came home.

I won't go into detail, but he had been hit by a car and made it home across several busy streets with the use of only 3 limbs and a strong will. He was an amazing old man, who brought kittens to our house several times and would always let them eat first - even though he was just as hungry.

When I came back home, my two big furballs greeted me with love knowing just what I needed.

I will miss you, Toby cat.

How do animals know? They just do. The night before we put our old dog down, she slept in my sons room- he had come for just a visit, somehow the dog knew, and she wanted to spend her last night with the boy she had protected for 11 years. Thankyou for sharing this story.

Bless his little heart for having the will to get home to you all. I'm just sorry for his passing and to know you had to see him in such bad shape. It's obvious he loved you and you had a great love for him and what a tender heart he must have had to bring home kittens to be fed. I'll keep you in our prayers.

Thank ya'll. <3

I'm just amazed that he got to the house. It makes me so angry at people though. He was hit during the daylight hours - there's no way someone didn't realize it.

Sigh.

At least he's at peace. I'm so thankful he came home instead of passing in pain. He didn't even put up a fight to get into the carrier. I'm 100% sure he just knew that if he could make it to us, it would be okay.

Toby sounds like he was quite a man in his day!! Compassionate loving and caring, strong willed too.

Thank you for loving him and giving him a home outside your home, you all are in my prayers

I'm so sorry about Toby. I lost my cat Panda last August to diabetes. It is never easy. I'm glad you have your doggies to help you get through it.

Bless you!
