Novice A and B

Very cool! When I was a kid....I was in my local 4-H Dog Training club and my Mom became the leader. Now....20 years later, she is still the leader and my daughter is in her club. It is a lot fun for the kids. Much more fun, now then back when I was in it. The club now has agility and they go to a nursing home monthly for pet therapy! I agree....it is definitely a great program.

Sounds a little bit like us. My husband and I just joined the leadership team of our local 4H dog club. This will be our first year as leaders. Maybe we'll still be there after our daughter has moved on. We'll see. I love watching the kids work with their dogs and watching their confidence grow as they progress. Our club even just received an invitation to do a dog obedience demonstration at a local nursing home. What a wonder experience for the kids.

That's awesome! My daughter is in 7th grade and has been in the club since she was in 4th grade. She loves it! The demonstrations at schools and nursing homes are awesome for the kids. Our club is doing breed specific presentations to a local nursing home tomorrow. My middle child will start 4-H in September....so we are getting ready to make an addition to our family :biggrin2:

My daughter's 13. She's only been training dogs for a year and a half. And in that time we went from no dogs to two dogs. We started with a mixed breed for 4H and then a year later added a sheltie. She has really taken to the sport and we're very proud of her accomplishments so far. We're also very excited to be entering the world of AKC Obedience. I'm sure there will be more questions to come.

That's great. I saw my first obedience trial at 13yr. I watched Open and went home and taught my dog the drop on recall . I didn't do 4-H wish I had. It took me almost 20yrs to finally get into the ring because of life and stuff. I trained pet/companion for years. I met Justice's breeder when my mix was 8yrs old and she talked me into showing her in UKC(Jazz was already trained though Open) and 2 years later sold me a puppy. Justice is my AKC Novice A dog.
