Odd potty schedule?

I am actually afraid to ask what this might mean . . . I think probably because I know and may not like it.

My new little Melody has THE strangest potty schedule. Now granted of my 5 dogs, 3 were boys and my other girl was a ridiculously alpha so she might have well been a boy . . .

. . . but this little one (who is 4-6 years old and a rescue here only 2 months if you didn't catch my intro thread) pees at 9 AM, poos at noon, pees again at 4, and pees again at 9 PM. I am slowly getting her to go more often by rewarding pees with cookie. She has not had a single accident in the house in 2 months. However, I think she should go a little more often -- esp. the 9 to 9 stretch could be 9 to 5 AM when I get up.

Thinking she spent a lot of time crated? She has great house manners but she clearly is on a schedule I didn't create. We will learn, but I am finding it odd. Any ideas?

Maybe she's the Sheldon Cooper of shelties and likes the schedule. I don't think it's totally odd for her to not go very often. As long as she's not having any problems going.. like, not straining to urinate, normal stools.
 
Our first sheltie could hold it for 10-12 hours. Koko, who is 5, doesn't pee very often and he has free run of the yard via doggie door. Personally, I wouldn't be worried.
Jess041--maybe she needs to check the roommate agreement :wink2:
 
Shelby doesn't go all that often either. DH takes her out at 5:30 in the morning and usually she is not back out until 4pm unfortunately sometimes longer. She is never in a rush to go out. She goes again after eating and then 1 or 2 more times before going to bed. Last time is usually 9 or 10pm. On weekends she lets us sleep as long as we like and doesn't wake us to go out.

She will go more often if we are outside but that is just because she knows to pee whenever she is taken out.

So I don't think her schedule seems too odd. I think she just needs some time to adjust to your schedule. I think theg are all "Sheldon Cooper" to an extent. Some more than others.
 
Thanks for the support. I am logically telling self no biggie. My GSD X McNab is an opportunitist peer. We go out, he will pee. He will pee on demand. He will poo on demand. At home, while traveling. My previous dogs were all the same. For 11 years I have had pee-on-demand. This little sheltie will either convert to MY way or I will convert to HERS, I suppose. I have actually got her mostly trained for a pee-cookie. She pees, she gets a click & treat.
 
Mine are on a schedule: 6 AM - noon - 6 PM - 9 PM.

I think they all eventually adapt to our schedules. (But I have paid the price if I get hung up at work and cannot make it home at noon :eek2:!)
