Of Silence and Barking

Our sweet Gracie has healed my aching heart-from the first minute I picked her up and she gave me a kiss and snuggled into my neck, we were bonded, just like that. She has been working to heal little George, too-sometimes they sit snuggled up together and kind of kissing and nibbling on each other's ears. It is so cute, but the best thing is to see our little rescue, nervous, puppy being happy and contented.
They haven't replaced George I and Georgie, but they are terrific successors. I'm glad we didn't wait a long time to get these two!
How do non-sheltie people live without sheltie love? I never want to be a home without shelties, and I love having a pair of them. Here's a prayer that you will soon find a new puppy to love!

"After living with happy little Sheltie joy barks for 15 years, living in a silent house is tough. "

Sheltiegrieve, that is so true. Hopefully soon there will be sheltie joy barks coming from a sheltie in your home!

Nice Thread

I'm a new member, it's nice to see there are many others who see these marvelous bundles of joy and noise as so much more than a pet. Our Gracee is approaching 16, has some health issues of course and we know she probably doesn't have a lot of time left. She has been the best companion we have ever had and it will be very difficult to say goodbye when the time comes. It will be especially hard on my wife.

We are in the process of adopting a 5 year old girl, once we have a home visit, a sleepover, and a weekend trial in our home to be sure it will work out well. We also plan on adopting a puppie later on. It is hard to imagine our home without the Sheltie antics, enthusiasm, and yes the barking too.

I'm glad to have found this nice forum, and to discover that we are not "over the top" with how we feel about our Sheltie as some of our family members and friends think! I have company here.....

FYI, my local Animal Human Society, and my local University have (in real life) Pet Loss Support Groups. I go to the former, and have found it to be helpful.

(And, of course, this forum has been very helpful too.)

We're very glad to have you with us. Many, or even most of us have been through the loss of a treasured Sheltie family member and so we understand in a way that I find friends and family sometimes can't. We hope your Gracee has many more years ahead with you. You are smart to incorporate another pup or two into your home now. They'll bring even more joy and love to your your life.

Please share stories and pictures when your new additions arrive!
