Olive hates rain

It has rained here for two days straight, and we have discovered that 8.5 mo old Olive doesn't like it. When the raindrops hit her back/head, she turns and tries to bite them as if they were flies! So, potty time has become a problem. She will usually pee (her bladder gets the best of her), but no way is she going to stay out long enough to poop. She drags us back to the door. Has anyone used the 'doggie raincoats' and do they work (as in, will the dog ignore the rain and attend to business)? Or is a big umbrella better? Or does someone have better ideas?

My Olive doesn't seem to have a problem with rain but my parents' Sheltie hated it. We did try a raincoat and that mostly helped but since it didn't cover his full face he was still annoyed by rain drops. A golf umbrella may be worth a shot if she's not afraid of those since it would cover the full body.

My dog that hates rain hates getting his feet wet--so nothing really helps him.

I tend to agree with Greenepony. A raincoat isn't going to cover her face, so a big umbrella might be your best bet.

Beau didn't like rain, he would run back inside, ( I don't think he liked getting his hair wet) he has become better though and now he likes getting the rub down with the towel from Momma afterwood

My Claussen didn't like rain when he was younger. I have a raincoat for him now (thanks to Mally's Mom :smile2:). What I did notice is that it really is about getting rain on the end of the nose, in the eyes, and getting feet wet. A few trips to the lake and my dogs love water now-but I still use the raincoat because even though shelties are mostly waterproof, they tend to stay wet and will srart to smell on a damp day.
