Olive's First Rally Trial!

We went to Oriole Dog Training Club's Rally Trial tonight. It was Olive's first time going for anything but an instinct test. We had a handler error at the beginning with a figure eight but otherwise it went well. We finished in 1:09 something and somehow got a score of 98!

DH looked at the scores for Novice B as well and we were 2nd overall, not bad considering our bobble at the start.

You can see I took the figure eight too close to the cone so she bounced off me then went on the other side of the cone. We had problems when practiced in the morning so I should have none better.

The judge was very nice, a number of the Novice A class had never been in the rally ring before and she was sure to remind us before starting to keep a loose lead and SMILE (I told DH it was like the hunter ring, I could try but it would a bit manic:biggrin2:)

Olive's tail was wagging- she looked happy and yeah- the figure 8 was really your only issue.
that was way better than Cran or Dix's first time in rally.

I was told in a class that I should leave lots more room when going around the cones in a figure 8 or the serpentines as if you ever do Beg Nov or reg Nov, those cones will be people and they should definitely have more space when you go around them.

Yeah, I think we need more work with cones in general. In class we use each other (with dogs) as the posts so she gives them a wide birth. I'm having DH pick up a couple when he goes to home depot later today.
