One Whine for Everything

Shelby is a big whiner too. And it is very annoying. She just does it for attention. Or if she sees someone or something outside she will whine/bark to tell us someone is there. She whines to eat, go out, play, or just to hear herself. I just ignor her and then she realizes it will get her nothing and go about her business. But DH gets real mad and will yell at her (giving her attention) and I keep telling him he has to ignor her and she will stop. If you find the cure you must share.
 
I just hate it when my hubs (who is a great guy in all other aspects) yells at the dogs! He's just not "dog people" like I am. He poo-poos all my years of insight into training, which tends to infuriate me, as he is of the caveman school of dog training - as in disciplining with a rolled up newspaper!

Sometimes makes me miss the good old days when my ex and I were both showing in obedience, agility, and herding. Of course, I realize the ex was (and still is for all I know) a liar, cheat, and thief, but we did enjoy a few great years of showing. I do NOT miss the man himself - only the camaraderie two dog-crazy spouses can have together when the focus is all on the dogs. <sigh>

But New Hubs is only 3 years into it, and he's yet to be trained completely. In fact, he's never even been to a fun match! <horrors!>
