Onemind dog went live

Sharon, just curious, what is your opinion on One Mind system? Do you think it is here to stay?

They seem to be expecting us to pay a premium price.
Seems quite expensive to me.
Considering this handling system is based on motion & natural cues it has a lot in common with other systems with similar origins.
So why so expensive?
I can barely afford to trial as often as I would like.
It seems like there are so many people trying to sell the same or similar ideas online or in seminars.

All you are doing is pre-cuing a turn!!

Be careful, I also see potential for dilution of natural cues down the road if this is video is typical.
Sometimes when you learn of a new tool for your toolbox it is tempting to over-use it.
Introduction of a "new trick" might be considered a success if you think your dog gets it & responds to it well, but you have to also consider whether that new trick is consistent with or at odds with your existing toolbox.
If so then in the end you might have gotten one step ahead by taking 2 steps backwards.
i.e. your dog may have also learned something else that wasn't consciously intended that takes away from existing tools. If that happens don't be surprised if your dog filters out (pays less attention to or ignores) an intended cue for some other "trick".
I have found there are few trainers that get this idea. More isn't always better.

Sealtainn, so agree with you. It is easy to pick a new trend here, new move there and confuse the pup completely with inconsistent cues.
This clip of mine is actually from Daisy online class but it seems to carry just about same idea of what dog sees before the tunnel dog will respond after the tunnel and position and location will make a difference how dog will come out of the tunnel.
It is interesting to note that Linda M will be teaching ¨fancy new moves¨class with Mary Ellen Barry, where MEB who follows OMS now will teach moves and LM will be explaining them AP style. LM has taken OMS training couple years ago I hear...

Few people I know who went to seminars with J&J are LOVING it though...
I hear you on the prices, competing with two dogs once a month is expensive entertainment I am finding:(

I hope you don't mind my "European" perspective on this..... Jaakko and Janita have been doing agility for years. In Europe they're very respected and I believe they're gonna stick around. Their handling is not only about natural cues, they have lot of turns and different ways of handling certain situations. They're holding many seminars around the world and it seems people love their lessons. Next year they're coming to our country, so if I get a chance, I'd love to go and meet them. I've got their DVD and they're definitely great trainers. IMO, they're not going anywhere. Actually they're becoming more and more popular. :wink2:
