Passed the CGC!

Congrats!!!

I think everyone should do this!!

I have gotten fees at hotels reduced or taken off because they have their CGC...so it comes in handy!!

This is good to know. Do the hotels ask for any kind of documentation? My husband will be impressed if we can get hotel fees reduced or waived. We spent a night in Pagosa Springs a couple of weeks ago and paid $50 for Phebe to be in the room.

Thanks everyone for the support and congratulations.

Congrats!!!!!! It is such an awesome feeling when your pup passes!

I remember the part of the test when I had to pup Pogo in a sit-stay, walk 20 feet. For some reason, he wasn't staying put. The evaluator told me that I was leading off with the wrong foot-so he was thinking he was supposed to walk at a heel! I had no idea my boy was so intuitive! He was doing just fine until I almost sabotaged his CGC test!!

Congrats! I'm wondering... which parts of the test were challenging for Phebe? Were there any she got right off? I'm curious to know more about this test.

It's my dream for Smudge to get his CGC. I know he can do it! If he can leave treats on his paws...he can do anything.

Tell us about it!

Phebe's most challenging item on the test was walking on a loose lead. She's always just so excited to be at the training center -- it's where she goes for daycare and that means PLAYtime to her -- that she wants to bounce and bounce and bounce. I overcame that by making certain that she had plenty of exercise before the test. For her, that meant an hour at the dog park playing hard in the morning and a brisk walk to a different park about 2 hours before the test for a ball romp on the soccer fields.

Here's a link to the CGC info on the AKC site.

Jess -- I KNOW Smudge can do it, too. :smile2:

Congratulations -- and of COURSE Smudge can do it! I was so nervous when Layla went for her certification. We'd had a private lesson with a trainer to fine tune her. She had a tendency to whine when I was out of sight. But she sailed through! When she went for her therapy dog international certification, she was so relaxed she fell asleep on the floor waiting for the "disturbing combo" of a man in an electric wheel chair and his service dog to come to her. When he pulled up, she just opened one eye, looked at him and the German Shepherd looming over her, and went back to snoozing!!!
