Pebbles going NUTS at the WII remote

Have other sheltie owners had a similar experience with the WII remote? I think Pebbles thinks it's a weapon or something...she goes CRAZY and wants to attack it. Giving her a timeout for doing so gets her even more agitated!
 
We go over to my parents to bowl on the WII and Zak likes to watch the ball go down the alley. The WII does not bother them at all. Just use it more so Peanut gets used to the noise and movement.
 
just becareful with her, there was a story a few years back where a sheltie was seriously hurt by a wii remote and I think he almost died. I make sure mine are locked out of the room when the kids are playing because 1. mine love to chase it because the kids are all wild and jumping so they think they are playing with them, and 2. the kids just dont pay attention to where the dogs are in location to the swinging wii!
 
That is so sad :(. Maybe Pebbles read that article, and hence has it in for the remote :-/. Just the site of the remote and any slight movement has her going totally nuts. Will def. put her in another room, but wasn't sure if I should try to condition her to not go crazy at its sight...
 
I'm not sure how to condition her to to react to it. The only think I can think of is to try the "can of coins" idea where you fill a can with pennies and shake it whenever she reacts to the Wii from the other room. You can also try a squirt bottle of water but don't let her she you squirt her.

Beyond that, I'm not sure. Hopefully someone else will have a suggestion for you.
 
Unfortunately, we have a similar problem. For us, I think it's more that everyone is excited and cheering, etc....so Bentley gets really excited and runs around barking.

The same is true when we're watching football (a lot!), and someone scores. We cheer, and Bentley barks and barks!

It's hard for him to curb his herding instinct when our energy is up and we're jumping and yelling.
