Peeing suddenly at 2.5 years

2.5 years old. Chewbacca is a good boy except he peed in the house 3 times over separate days for the first time since we had him at 8 weeks. The last time he must have gone for 15 feet he left a trail.

Could it be medical?

Yes, if this is happening suddenly it could be medical. He could have a urinary tract infection as Daisy said, or another bladder issue. I'd get him in to see your vet, and be prepared to take a urnine sample with you. (The easiest way to get this is to follow the dog outside with a soup ladle that you dedicate to this purpose.) Good luck!

Definitely could be a urinary tract infection (UTI). Males do get them also. I agree, a vet visit is necessary. Untreated UTIs can travel up to the kidneys and you definitely don't want that.

Funny but Finnie did this a couple weeks ago (he's 2 1/2 as well), 2 days in a row and right after we had come in the house (he'd been playing outside). Definitely no UTI as there was no abnormal smell and he pee'd buckets. I started taking him out more and rewarding every time he pee'd (no reward if no pee of course). I also kept a close watch on him inside and after a few days of this he was going to the door again to let me know he had to go out.
Take him to the vet if you suspect a UTI but otherwise go back a bit in his training, just like he's a pup again. They say if a dog hasn't forgotten something at least once they don't know it yet.

I'd watch him while outside to pee......
my dad said one time that Jocu was peeing a lot but really it was Jocu trying to pee a lot- I could see that even though he was lifting his leg that nothing was coming out. got him to my vet that day- UTI and he had to stay overnight as they needed to run a catheter.
