Ruminations, rewards and rituals
I'm mentally reviewing the weekend and making my list before I go to class this evening.
1. Start line stay -- It seems like it's impossible for us to practice and reinforce this one too much.
2. Table -- Decel to help her stick the landing and down the first time and reward all successful attempts.
3. Front Crosses -- Get there in time to be bold and definite about the new direction.
4. Tire as first obstacle -- I just learned that safety concerns are causing judges to use this as the first obstacle. I need Phebe to be confident in taking it on her own when a leadout is key to our success.
5. Contacts -- We had them this past weekend, but we need to settle on consistent criteria for each obstacle (2o2o, running, down at the bottom ...)
6. Leash at the end -- Phebe just doesn't like to come to me when I have the leash in my hand or even if she thinks the leash is going to be in my hand. It makes no sense to me. Whenever the leash comes out, it means we're going to do something fun. There's going to be lots of rewards for collar grabs in our training sessions.
There is more, like independent weaves, but I think that's plenty to start on for this week.
