Piper’s vet visit

Just grabbed this screenshot…I’ve checked on the twice and even said hello and no barking!
I think Piper is sleeping in my mom’s tv room (the spare bedroom).
Sometimes they amaze me…but then they did have breakfast at 1:30 and supper 2 hours later…I’m guessing they’re full!🤣

When I went home to be with my Mom during chemo, I drove Gavin with me. He stayed with us for almost 3 months, hanging out at Grandma's house and in her yard. I have pictures of Mom sleeping in her recliner and Gavin sleeping on the floor next to her. I took him on stroller walks daily, helped both of our stress levels. Sadly, he passed almost as soon as returned to CA but I know Mom loved having him with her for those months. (Mom did know I was looking into getting a puppy before she passed, she would have loved Pico too)

Dogs are the best medicine! I hope your Mom can come home soon.

Except Spitfire. When I crashed the race bike Sca monitored me even more than usual. He bounced on me once and when I yelped not again. Spitfire would walk up on me and stand on my chest giving me the look of 'amuse me peasant' thank goodness of for pain killers....but a broken rib Spitfire! So MOST Shelties are awesome care dogs.

I remember that trip, Cindy, and your posts and pictures about how much Gavin enjoyed being there with you and your mom. What a special time you had with both of them, it was a blessing.

Gavin was older and VERY calm, which worked well with Mom's energy levels.
I really think having him around was healing because he just was.....no expectations.
Pico on the other hand is more demanding LOL

I took Piper up this morning in a stroller (different ward and I wasn’t sure of the reaction) and he spent an hour on the bed beside my mom drooling for her breakfast 🤣…of course my mom did give Piper 1/2 a slice of dry toast (no butter fortunately) and 2 crackers. His bib was soaked from the drool lol!
Of course I shouldn’t have worried about the reaction…I was taking Piper downstairs to go pee and we were stopped twice in the hallway by nurses who just had to pat him…they thanked me afterwards for letting them relieve some stress!
They’ll be happy to see us back this evening.

My mom is doing better today…we got them to remove her last IV…it was bothering her and wasn’t being used anymore.
Yesterday my mom was upset because she was thinking we were looking to put her in a nursing home (they’re looking at transferring her to a community hospital closer to home). Several years ago our local Provincial government shut down several ER’s but the hospitals stayed open for stable patients to free up hospital beds in full service hospitals (crazy), so my mom thought this was a nursing home she’d be going to. That’s why I brought Piper today…it really did perk her up. I just wish she’d move more…of course the HCA’s are busy so I do notice they don’t encourage her to get up as often. At 97 she does what SHE wants to do!🤣
