Piper’s vet visit

My mom passed away at 8:35 this evening.
I had been talking to her about all the people waiting for her in heaven…and I spoke of all the dogs waiting for her as well. I’d also told her a few minutes before that I’d be leaving at 9 pm. It was shortly after as I was talking about all our animals when I noticed her chest wasn’t moving. She then took a big gasp and was gone.
She went in her own time while I was there…they say the brain is the last to go and I believe it was her last gift to me to allow me to say goodbye to her.
She was a strong woman whose ancestors were fur traders and explorers…I hope I can accomplish half as much as she did in her lifetime.
RIP

I’m very sorry for your loss, Lisa. I’m glad you got to say goodbye, and I hope you take comfort in knowing you were an amazing daughter and support to your mom. Sending you love and peace.

We are so sorry for your loss. She will be missed, but soon your heart will be filled with all the good memories of your times together.

Thank you Ann. My mom was an amazing woman who endured a ton of suffering throughout the years but still she persevered. My father passed away suddenly (heart attack) in 1974 and she was left with a huge house to pay for , no job and 5 kids still at home to feed. She ended up getting a job with the government where she worked until she retired in 1992. She bought and paid for a house and had a decent retirement income from all her hard work!
My brother Stephen passed away in 1997 (age 36) and my brother Robert passed away in 1999 (age 43) and that was incredibly hard on her. Then losing my sister was so so difficult.
I cared for my mom for over 20 years and we always had a good relationship but this last hospital visit we had the most amazing conversations I feel we finally connected and understood one another. She went in her own time , when she was ready.
This weekend I’m going to take it easy and just reflect on her life…I had a huge cry last night and I’m sure there will be many more but I’m sort of at peace with her passing, if you know what I mean. And the dogs seem to be ok as well…this past 5-6 weeks has been so crazy with me never home I think the dogs didn’t notice my mom not being around. Piper of course still goes in my mom’s room wanting a cracker (I’ll keep that tradition going lol) and they do go down the hall in the morning to see her and then remember and turn around.
They’ll be ok.
Plus on top of everything else I have a cold! I’m religious about cleaning my hands but hospitals are like a huge Petrie dish!
Now I have to make the house my own…that will keep me busy!

I am glad her end was peaceful and you were there with her.
She can rest now.
Take care of yourself and hug your pups as much as possible
