Popping in to Say "Hello" from Oregon

Hello and welcome to the Sheltie Nation!

I grew up in 4-H and my mom was my leader. I showed an Irish Setter and my sister was the lucky one who got to train the Sheltie  Guess who always placed :rolleyes2:

My mom is still the leader of that 4-H club (over 20 years now) and my two daughters are in her club. We have three shelties that my girls train in 4-H. My older daughter shows two of them, and my younger daughter shows the other one. One of our girls is a rescue (Vinca) and the other two are from a breeder. Chloe and Vinca are sable and whites and Dandie is a blue merle.

Welcome again to the Sheltie Nation!

I hope you enjoy your time here.

Your mom must be a saint to still be at it after all these years. We had some serious issues with our county regarding the dog program and the county was not very receptive to allowing the kids a place to show at fair. My Son did manage to make it to state every year and placed very well with our little Angel "Caledon's Valentine PromMiss"

Serena also did well in the two years he showed her at State finishing Reserve Grand Champion in Senior Obedience both years.

Thank you for your Warm Welcome

Sounds like he did awesome. Our club does not do showmanship. They do pet therapy, obedience, rally, and agility in the summer.

We used to have to show in the goat/sheep barn for our county show. You can imagine how distracting that was :eek2: Since our club brings out so many spectators, we now have a tent that we share with the Seeing Eye Club. It is SO much nicer. Our state 4-H dog show is held at the Cook Campus of Rutgers University. That is a really nice show. It is also fun for the kids because it takes place during Rutgers Day, which is a big "festival" that they hold at the University.

That's funny, at State we had to navigate between the cow and sheep barns to get to the Dog tent show area, and the outside Cattle show ring was right next door to the Dog Tent. I guess they just wanted to make it interesting for the Kids and dogs:winkgrin:

Thanks for the Warm Welcome

We rotate over to the Central portion of the State about once a month as we have 5 acres we are working on at Prineville. The Dogs love it when we are up there. Thank you for your warm welcome
