Possible Fence Aggression/Barking

I wanted to say thanks to everyone. It seems like a secondary fence in front of the tall shrubs should help. And I know BF and I have discussed not letting Koji just go out there by himself for at least a month (to work on the issue if it presents itself). I like the idea of making him wait and not just run out, control, right? I think that's also a good idea because there's a deck but only one side of the deck has stairs, the other two sides are a 2 foot drop. Koji would love it, but with his back, stairs will be the way for him to go. In fact, I may have to even think about that. Ugh.

For those of you with secondary fences. Do you think white would be needed? So the dogs can somewhat see it at night? I'm thinking won't black just blend into the bushes? Hmmm....

And how tall do you think it'd need to be? I'm hoping for something short that won't look strange against the bushes.

I don't think color will matter once the dog knows it's there. I'd put it up as soon as you can after moving in and then Koji will never be able to get to the real fence. if he respects the barrier, then 2-3 feet would be high enough.

I would consider doing something about the deck as well- maybe another short fencing project.....

Sigh. More money. LOL. I keep telling BF to stop coming up with projects already and we haven't even moved! And here I am, fence project for Koji and Vogue. Haha. At least the fence will keep Vogue from sniffing behind the bushes.....she's a sniffer! And it will definitely go up before we move in, I hope. I was hoping for a shorter fence, but we'll have to see. I think he'd typically respect even 12-18", but if he gets riled up, he'll just jump it. Darn those agility classes! LOL. I know he can clear 26" (or he could - he's probably out of shape).

Of course after talking with BF about fence types, he says, "I have something specific in mind, so let's go cheap for now". LOL. Hopefully Koji won't jump a 12" crappy he can plow through it, garden border fence. Cuz I'm not spending more money.

We had put up a small fence around an area of newly planted grass. It was about 1ft tall chicken fence. And we made sure Shelby knew it was there. One night I let her out and couldn't find her. There she was in the middle of the fenced in area and she refused to jump over it to get back out I had to pick her up. So I think your 2 ft fence might work.

LOL, my 9 month old, 12" tall sheltie puppy can clear a 24" baby gate with no problem - not even a running start. Just hops right over.

Oh trust me, I know. Koji is an ex-agility dog; I've seen him clear 26" easily. Fingers crossed he's a good boy; but I'm sure he'll go over his threshold and jump the temp fence I'm going to buy this weekend.

By the way, we took Koji and Vogue to the new house (it's officially ours now!) and there was a dog barking in a different backyard and Koji didn't even care. Granted, I don't think he realizes it's HIS backyard yet. lol, but it was nice. Vogue sniffed the perimeter as she typically does when I've taken her to new places.
