Our Amber Rose just had surgery 3/23/17 because she had pyrometra. When they took out the uterus, they said that the uterus was severely inflamed on one side but the other side was normal. The surgeon also said that she had cysts all around and thru her uterus. We were told that the surgery was successful with no problems. She was sent home the same night.
After about 3 days, we noticed spots on her post surgical pajamas. We was not allowed to go up and down stairs that were higher then 3 inches tops. She was kept pretty calm most of the time. STILL we noticed that it appeared like there were blood like spots on her pj's. When she had her stitches taken out, the vet (not the surgeon that did the surgery) was told about the spotting. She (the vet) began poking and prodding the lady areas checking everything. Amber seems to be bleeding from her vulva/vagina. As soon as the vet turned her right side up, she was really leaving drops of blood as she was walking away. The doctor said that it could be internal bleeding (a small pocket of blood) and that it should go away within the next two wks. The other reason is the "c" word. The surgeon claimed that she asked us to do a biopsy when the uterus was taken out by the way it looked. That was odd because when that surgeon called us immediately after the surgery, she did not say a word about it at all. All she said that everything went quite well and she was already out of the anesthesia and up and about. She never mentioned anything to me/us about the 'c' word or a biopsy. Since they threw out the uterus, there is no way to tell now.
Has anyone or do you know about anyone who has gone thru this? About bleeding thru the vulva/vagina after a uterine removal? After surgical intervention for pyrometra? Any help that you can give us would be great. Many thanks in advance!
