Potty Schedule

I'm now working on having the Boys (Sparky, Max and Disco) to go potty at specific times (A.M, Noon, Five o'clock and Ten o'clock). This is the potty schedule we've used with all of our previous babies. Sparky and Disco are no problem, but poor Max, he wants out every 5 seconds whether he needs to go potty or not!:biggrin2:

On a good note, I left the bedroom door open last night and Max did not potty anywhere during the night! Good, Max!

I found out through trial and error that you can't feed Treader at night or you'll find a surprise on the floor in the morning.
My other dog, you can feed her almost anytime.
Well, different dogs, different issues.

The potty schedule is a great idea if you can get them all on it. That type of thing can occasionally be tricky. just think do you go at the same time every day ?? You should get them fairly close i'm sure. Max just likes the attention it focuses on him. They are smart.:biggrin2:

First Potty In The Morning

Have you noticed when you let the kiddies out first thing how quiet they are and how they do their potty and hurry back inside? LOL!

After that, it's all downhill-the barking and playing begins and doesn't end until bedtime!:biggrin2:

Very funny that you mention that. I let all of mine out at 5 a.m. and you don't hear a peep but by 6 a.m. when you let them out again they are all barking full force!! It's like a game to them!!

Speaking of Potty........

I can't believe the difference in Max, the 13 month old sable! He has not disgraced himself inside the house for weeks, maybe months now.:biggrin2:

However, we're still having to take him out what seems a zillion times a day.

I had the same problem with Sadie, she would not mess in the house but only if WE followed HER schedule.

At 6 months old she wanted to go out every two hours. Puppies are apparently supposed to hold it for the same number of hours as their age in months but if we didn't let her out when she wanted to she'd mess on the floor. At the same time she could be left for hours in her crate and go all night without having an accident.

Our dog trainer told us we needed to space things out by keeping a closer eye on her and gradually spacing the times we took her outside. He was right. We started lengthening the times at half hour increments and keeping a REALLY close eye on her, not allowing her to sneak off or scolding her when she did. His idea worked and solved the majority of her potty issues
