Our pups give us soo much in so many ways, they just brighten the day, sometimes are annoying, but mostly so great to have around they fill the house and make us smile and remind us what it is like to be good. Mine gave me a present sometime last week ... a tick. I missed it till it had had its fill and the rash started moving down my arm-- now I have Lymes disease. All these years living here in the NE and this is a first. I am sure the pups picked it up from outside (or at least I am accusing them of it).. the weather this year has been so warm that it is tick heaven all around and they are very active. So unless you like creeping itchy rashes and taking doxy for 10 days be careful, that long fur can hide all sorts of unwelcome things... If that little bugger had bit the dogs instead of me it would not have been around long-- as it is at least it will never make any baby ticks now... that tick family line has ended.

Oh no!! So sorry to hear this, but at least you caught it early. Yikes. There are so many darn tick diseases, and yes with warmer weather everywhere they are just spreading like crazy.

We found 2 on Teddy's head in the last 2 days. They hadn't had time to make a home, his snout is hard and they would have died of with the tick meds but I do hate that we don't have tick defenses.

Oh no- I am so sorry to hear this. My husband also got Lyme this year, and it hasn’t been fun. So I know what you are going through.
living in the NE I agree the tics are terrible this year. We have been finding the on Shelby daily, we see them walking on her white face. And they are the very small deer tics. We also find them dead on the bathroom floor where she sleeps i am hoping thst means her tic meds are working.
We are supposed to get below freezing this week so I’m hoping it kills the tics off.

So sorry to hear you've been hit with Lyme. I had it years ago and it was miserable. I hope you caught it early enough that the Doxy knocks it out with no lasting effects.
We're in the NE too, and ticks are huge here as well. I have our dog yard sprayed by Tick Ranger...they come four times a season and spray a cedar-based oil that is safe for pets and people. If you find a tick they come back for free. I am thrilled to say we did not have a single tick on a dog this year or last. They're a franchise and I recommend them highly!

Yes our dogs give us lots more than just loving lol!
We had a pretty nice fall up until last Wednesday when we got snow and cold so hopefully our ticks have died or gone wherever they go in winter!

Willow brought one in which bit me on the leg. Fortunately I saw it and managed to remove it in less than a minute. I went to the doctor's office and they gave me a wide spectrum large dose of antibiotics. I wish they had a vaccine for humans to use.

So sorry about your Lyme's! Glad you caught it early, I had a few women who worked for me years ago that didn't catch it and had all sorts of forever symptoms.
We remove all underbrush from our property, all leaves, we have Bartlett tree who has sprayed the perimeter of our property for 20+ years. I used to us Frontline Plus and push it to 45 days during odd seasons, but 2 years ago Brodie got Lyme's and we've had no weather in CT cold enough these last few years to make a dent in the tick population. You need snow/ice cover and and extended, uber cold freeze. Ticks have 3 very active seasons which occur every few months.... October/November just happens to be one of them. We haven't taken the dogs on hikes as we have in prior years - even with Frontline and sprayed with Wondercide, we were seeing ticks walking on them so they've been confined to our yard. It was so nice when we recently traveled to be able to get them out many, many times daily for walks around town - although my dogs aren't city dogs, at least not Brodie, he needs a real patch of grass to go - hence the lots of walking but they sure loved it!
