A lot of the same horse remedies seem to carry over well to the dogs as well 
Listerine is also good for itchy spots (we used for itchy tails).
I've also used Shapley's MTG on ringworm, as it is a sulfur product. Given the option, I'd much rather use the listerine. MTG stinks (smells like bacon grease) and leaves the coat slightly oily.

Im kinda wondering if its not a food allergy because my Buddy has allergies to everything and he would get these patches on this snout and on his front paws. I got him on a totaly grain free diet and they cleared up. I still would take him to the vet....Just a thought...

So here comes another side effect of me taking this puppy to early. I have tried researching this issue as it came up yesterday after the vet closed. I have boiled it down to 4 issues.
The issue: The puppy is losing small patches of fur (so far in 2 places). At first Mange was the first and only thing I could think of. But all of the pictures I found of Mange just kind of made me doubt it. The second thing which I think this issue truley is, is ring worm. The areas where she has lost fur is relativley small (on her paw and her nose) and the skin is kind of crusty (looks dry). The only 2 other things I found that I think it might be is a food and or stress allergy and somthing called sebborhea. It first started out on her paw (we noticed friday night) and I figured she was just licking herself and it was a hot spot and we would just watch her and make sure it doesn't continue. At some point last night I noticed she had a "ring" of fur missing on her nose and thats when I became worried. She can't lick her nose so obviously its not a hot spot. What do you guys think. She is going to the vet again first thing tomorrow. This is what happens when you dont let a puppy build its immune system

To me it looks like ringworm. It is treatable for sure,but very contagious,so do please be careful.As you can also get it.
The listerine remedy does work.I would first use some peroxide to clean it well.Then the Listerine,followed by an antiseptic ointment.
There was actually a thread in a Yahoo group I belong to,for Cats & Kittens,and this very subject was a informative thread. The owner of the cat,posted,and she was using this very treatment. And the ringworm eventually healed.It does take dailey treatments though.
Hi there, IAMS is a perfectly fine food to feed your pets. Animals have been living off of Alpo grocery store type of brands for years and years. Now a days with SOOO many different food types, natural, organic, raw, etc, it's difficult to choose. I chose Royal Canin for our puppy and she is doing fab! But RC might not be good for someone else's pet!! Oh GEEZE I am rambling now

I know it's 1 star dog food, but some of the 4-5 star ones as I read on the dogfoodanalysis website myself weeks ago that we tried, give my puppy an upset stomach. I havent looked at the website since putting mine on Royal Canin, but I am sure it's not much better. Megan is thriving, growing running, beautiful coat, the whole 9 yards!

Red mange is not curable. It can be kept under control, but once a dog has it there is always a chance it could come back later. It is caused by a weak immune system. There is a photo album of red mange in my forums folders.

I actually looked Royal Canin up and it has a 3 star rating!! The higher rated ones are too rich for my puppy's tummy. Some of those reviews are 1-3 years old and the food ingredients have changed in some of them. If I could be so bold as to respectively say that I think it's a tad bit sad that a person has to say, "don't judge" in her message simply because she feeds something others might not agree with. BUT, I know everyone means well!
