Puppy sheltie shedding?

I have this cool purple thing that slides over my hand.I got it at my groomers shop.But they are available online.

It has nubs on one side,and the other side has all the little teeth. The hand scrubber is made of very soft,pliable plastic.I say plastic,but it almost has a rubber gel like feel to it.Not stiff at all,you could actully roll & twist it.

I will take a picture of it. Earnhardt loves it,its a great massage,and it really is a useful to get right down deep.Plus when I rinse him,I use the other side,and as the sprayer is going over him,I use it as a slicker from his neck all the way down his body.It helps getting the suds out. This is the part that works well in getting the dead hairs out.

What can you do combat it?

Bathing the dog will help blow the coat faster which means that you can get past the shedding faster.

Get yourself good grooming brushes and be prepared to brush pup 1 to 2 times per week while they are blowing coat.

- investigate the furminator or other raking tools. When used properly they effectively remove the thick undercoat
- get in the habit of lline brushing pup at least weekly. It seems to minimize the impact when they blow their coats.

I will say that when I compare the shedding of my Shelties to my parent's lab-mix, I'll take my Shelties! They really do not shed much at all. Perhaps I'm blessed.

This is more or less my rule of thumb also. One word of advice though, give him a really good brushing before bathing him. Once you start working the shampoo in all of the loose fur will start coming out and will be everywhere and all over your hands. Its much easier if you brush him first to get rid of at least some of the loose fur.
 
Toffee just blew his coat the first time this summer, and man, was it ever scary! lol
Thank god I had this forum to look it up, what reassurance!! The tumbleweeds in my apartment were legendary... I really thought the poor dog won't have any hair left... well, no undercoat to speak of was true, lol
Now just before winter he seems to be getting some back, but man it is slow going... Reading now that most of you give weekly baths... I am hesitant because most things I have ever read prior to being on here used to say not to bath unless you realllly have to... But I gave him more frequent baths and that really helped get rid of the poor guy itching and get rid of remaining undercoat, lol
So now tis that time of year again, methinks...

Weekly baths! That's a lot! :eek2: I wouldn't give weekly baths unless I absolutely had to.

I wouldn't give a bath more than 1 monthly, and that's pushing it, IMO. Ever time you bath it washes away the natural oils in their coat, which can lead to itchy skin and a dry coat.

I try not to bath Sadie more than 1 once every 3-4 months if I can. If she gets dirty in between I rinse her dirty parts off with water only, or use oatmeal shampoo only on the dirty spots if her fur is stained (this is rare).
 
You should have no problems viewing Jess. I just went & rechecked,all my albums are set so everyone can view.I have no restrictions. Maybe try refreshing~All of the albums are set for "everyone" to view
