Puppy traits for agility

Yes to everything that's been said. When looking specifically for my agility puppy, I wanted a pup that had the structure to compete in the breed ring and the drive/temperament to work sheep. A pup that was interested in working with me, not afraid or put off when he failed and supremely intelligent. Boy did I get that!! It can be hard to evaluate a puppy for performance sports so you really need to trust the breeder's judgement. I was interested in the puppy that would play with any type of toy I tried to engage him with and would just as easily take a treat. Personally, I like the "die hard" boy dogs...but that isn't always the best choice for a person just starting with the breed or the sport. So know your limitations as well and choose the puppy that you feel you can live with. Because as others have said, this puppy will be your pet first and foremost.
