Quality Foods and not so expensive

Are there any quality foods that are relatively inexpensive other than those made by Diamond? After all the recalls they've been having, I almost wonder if it'd be better to use a lower quality food than something that's getting recalled so frequently. $50 for a 20 lb bag of food is pretty steep.

Sometimes you have to put forth the extra money when quality is vital. I pay $30 for a 28oz bag of food because I want the best quality and because it's good quality she eats very little. She free feeds, too, so she isn't going hungry.

Acana/Orijen/Fromm are about as affordable as you can go and get quality. Once you get lower quality, you start getting more affordable fillers that don't benefit the pup, only their pocket books. Nature's Logic, I thought it was affordable and one of the only actually ones on the market without synthetic vitamins. There are some other good ones out there if you search. But just remember to look through the ingredients carefully and find out WHERE they get their ingredients. You don't want anything that could be left open like "animal product" and such as that's how they sneak in bad things like euthanised pets/dead zoo animals/road kill. The laws are so lenient in terms of what can be put in dog food and with all the recalls, it's vital you choose a quality company and that's going to cost them more therefor more on the market. But it's so worth it, less vet bills most likely. Those ingredients they can't process takes a toll on them after so many years.

This is the main source of nutrition for your pet, it's the gas in the car, it's what keeps them alive, you want the most quality ingredients you can find. The good news is the better quality lasts long so they use less.

Post something in the RAW if you're interested in that. I feed three animals on RAW for $60 a month total.

I have been using Nature's Recipe. I buy it at Petsmart. Mia hasn't had any complaints. Lol. I also feed it to my cats now and their weight is better, coats are better, not as many hairballs.

I feed blue buffalo for a 30lb bag I pay around $55...its a middle of the road grade food...and doesnt break the bank!

I buy my kitties royal canin and spend 27.99 for 10 pounds. I mix this with sensative stomach that is $12.00 a bag for 10 lbs. This last 2 months.
I keep this out all the time for them but I feed them fish, chicken, turkey, peas, sweet potatoes ( scrape it out when baked), and I think this is cheaper then the dry food I buy, these meats I however cook.
I am glad to hear you feed 3 dogs raw for $60.00. I think this is something I might do some reading more on. I should check the health benefits on this diet. I never knew chicken necks were eaten by dogs until I read that on this forum.

I have 4 here,so adding a 5th. I have been feeding Acana, and they love it. However faced with a puppy coming in,I am going back to an all life stage food.

So Fromm will be coming, and this is the last time I am switching. So 30lbs of food for discounted price thru PetFoodDirect for $55.00 or right around there. Can't remember the exact price, but right around there.
