Am/Can/Jap/Int'l Ch. Golden Hilyte's The Phantom (ROM). I've heard that his selling price (when he was sold to an owner in Japan) was over 100,000. Did anyone else hear this? Can anyone confirm it?

I've also heard about a bitch (don't know her name) that was sold for 20-25,000. Anyone know anything about that one either?

holy cow that is alot of money for a sheltie. I love shelties but jesus I don't think I would ever spend that kind of cash for one. :eek2:

If you google him, there's a Golden Hylite's memorial page for him (he's gone now)...he was definitely gorgeous!

The folks in Japan Love shelties...no wait they adore them They are small and dainty and that is what they love about them. The Japanese live in very small homes (many times with several generations of family) with even smaller yards. I used to live in Japan and small dogs were all the rage. Smaller dogs likes the shiba-inu were small and regal looking like their larger counter parts and in great demand.

It seems if they are small or petite and furry they are in demand there...like papillions, long haierd chiuahuas, maltese, the Japanese folks will search them out no matter what the cost. These are the same peoiple who will pay upwards of 200,00.00 for certain koi

SheltieMom... I know that information about the Japanese also since I grew up in Japan. 7 years of my life I was there. Father was in the AF so I experienced most of my life being around and interacting with the Japanese. (First Language was Japanese) hehe. The LOVE small dogs. I still wouldn't pay the money that they pay for things though. lol.

wow thats alot!!! the most I have seen a sheltie sell for was 10,000 and I thought that was rediculous!

I just went to his memorial page and it brought tears to my eyes. What a glorious boy he was.
