Radar ears and deer.

Lady I swear has radar ears, she can hear the slightest noise. She investigates different areas of the house, and shows me where the weird sound is coming from. She doesn't go nuts unless she is chasing a squirrel.

Now when it comes to deer she can hear them, neither Lucky or Lady are afraid of them. I believe they just think they are very big dogs.

The deer come all hours, five were in the front yard. Three does, two bucks.
They jump the fence, and put a nice dent in one portion of our aluminum panel. The does are dropping fawns like crazy. Two were on the side of the road, worried about them getting hit. Lot of dead does on the highways.

I thought the squirrel was bad pooping in one corner of the patio. Got to love em. # of deer is over-whelming, but we have taken their land. Driver beware we almost got hit two times now.

I swear that Indy has ESP when it comes to people/dogs walking along my outside fence.

Generally speaking, Indy is up and barking even before I see anybody walking by and then about 30 seconds later....sure enough.....we have traffic!

I keep thinking I'm going to set up a video cam someday to test the theory....but I'm 98% positive that he senses before he sees the dogs coming. From the twilight zone.....

That is funny the twilight zone, you could be right. It would be interesting to have a video cam around. I think Lucky is getting a little hard of hearing, but he has never acted like Lil' Lady with her radar ears.

We live in a house built in 1860 that has triple brick construction. On occasion my neighbour has come over in his huge John Deere tractor to let me know when he is cutting our hay. It is sooooo quiet in here that unless I am in the kitchen with the dogs or have windows open, they don't even hear the tractor. We talk about moving back to the city when Dave retires. What a culture shock the dogs will have.

The architects on these older homes were something else. Now a days you couldn't affoard them to design a home such as yours. I am sure the shelties will miss this home if you move. You will find out if they have radar ears like my Lil' Lady.
