Rally weekend for Cran 10-12 Aug 2018

We're using hot dogs to make sure she goes to the bottom of the contacts - which would get pretty messy in a Treat and Train ;-)
I understand- I have only used Zuke's so far but this fall, we'll be using the Treat and Train a lot more. lots of dogwalk practice is coming up. Destin needs reinforcing to run all the way down and so does Jocu- he's planned to start competing in standard this fall.

It's probably a training issue. For me, walking (running) past a jump, means take the jump unless I've told you otherwise. But like I said, agility is more important to me. If I was really training hard in rally I would probably find it important to train them walking by the jump ;-) I just haven't bothered to really work on it, to be honest! But you're right!
it would really depend on the course layout, many times after you take the jump when you are supposed to, it really doesn't interfere with the rest of the course. so could be a non-issue most of the time......

Spirit has never, in her entire life, blown a contact. She has way more self-preservation than that. I never even had to train her running dogwalk. She just does it perfectly every time. But Skylar thought it would be a good idea to jump off the dog walk when she was a good 3 feet above the contact zone!!!!!! Sometimes Skylar acts first and thinks later ;-)

Jocu is the only one who hasn't blown the dogwalk- probably because he hasn't been doing it as long. They all have good striding so if they run all the way down, they get good hits in the contact zone. I've been told the ETS dogs have problems with the contacts as well as jumps- Cran certainly jumped off from much higher than I was comfortable with. that's why he no longer does courses with contacts. This could also apply to Dixie- she has it a little but not to the extent that Cran does. Destin - I think he just gets excited and jumping is so much faster.....
